Bring some extra food! Long flight, you don’t get enough and quality is mediocre. No free snacks in between meals except for mini pretzels.
Verified travelerFlew with Qantas AirwaysSYD-DFWFeb 2025
Be at the airport at least 3-4 hours before departure. Lines are long and boarding process is a mess.

Ensure you have 2-3 hours layover You’ll likely need unless you don’t mind missing your next flight

I wish I had known that I would have to go thru customs in Vancouver even though I was scheduled from Australia thru Canada (Vancouver thru Montreal) and on to USA. We did not leave the airport in Canada because there was not enough time between flights. Our checked baggage did not have to go thru customs in Canada...only us. If I had known of this great inconvenience I would have booked a flight direct to USA.

Be prepared for a long flight & take what you absolutely must have in your carry on.
Verified travelerFlew with Hawaiian AirlinesSYD-HNLJan 2024
Sydney airport is real convenient - with access for family members up until the SYD signage pre-security. If you need to go through visitor immigration at HNL, and catch another flight onwards, then please allow for ~3hours layover. The bags need to be picked up post-immigration, dropped off at transit baggage and then there’s a long walk to terminal 1 to reach gates for B, C and beyond (A gates are first). Having just 2 hours layover cuts it close.

We got off a cruise so were at the airport over 7hrs before our flight. We paid for the day pass at the Premium Club. Totally worth it! It was quiet and offered food, drinks, showers and when they closed, we were able to go to the downstairs lounge which opened at 6:30. This lounge was much larger and had a bigger selection of food and beverages. Would definitely go there again.

Be prepared for the long haul flight. Try to book your tickets early and choose no more than 1 stop flight. I had 2 stop flight and it drained me out.

Again, Fijian hospitality was genuine, very comfortable, only improvement would be the entertainment. Why Do they only have 5 episodes of TV shows and from like season three...

Fiji Airways was amazing, will definately be lfying them again. The "Fijian hospitality" is not a catch phrase, it is genuine. the only things that could be improved is the entertainment. Not a great choice of movies, and the TV shows only have about 5 or so episodes, and often of a random season.

They will look to squeeze every penny they can out of you!! Pick your seat$$...bring luggage$$$$... if they could charge you for the air on the plane they would!!

.very good and as I needed wheelchair assistance all staff excellent.. only suggestion is get rid of those plastic chairs hard to ride in and staff have trouble compared to others. Everything else very good experience. Will use Fiji Air again.

In-flight entertainment options could use a refresh, Consider a tie-up with Spotify for more current music and with IMDB or other service for newer selections/movie ratings.

See previous comments. Didn’t take this flight because my other flight was so delayed. Ending up on two other flights as a result and was more than a day late.

6 hour delay and they didnt try to make up any time during an over 10 hour flight

Very good; seat made ready for bed after meal, a plus since one airline covered the seat at the start.

Entertainment was not good. Seems like liquor should’ve been advertised only beer and wine was even though I saw others getting liquor didn’t realize I could. And the food to me could’ve been a little bit.

Great except paying $240 usd for 2 pounds over on a checked luggage. Outrageous.

Kayak did not propagate my United miles account and I had to manually get credit.

Like: Aircraft was better than others I've flown in. Crew was great, food was very good. Air New Zealand is now my favorite airline. On our long flight from AKL to YVR there was enough room for those of us in Economy to stretch a bit. My sister is disabled and they took very good care of her and me. Best entertainment offering of all the other airlines. Not so much; Flight from AKL to YRV was delayed BUT they recovered really well so no complaints here. Pretty petty point to complain about. Only negative I have. I will recommend to friends.

Great entertainment options on the screen. uSB A and C chargers. Free WiFi! Crew were excellent.

Service was excellent and they’re very helpful and nice

Check in crew member was very helpful, nice and excellent service👍

Not a comfortable trip, the seats are not good, and they look old.

Lost my luggage and brought someone else luggage to my airport.

Not entirely positive. It’s frustrating that everything is done through the united app. One of our flight attendants on our trip from San Francisco to MSP continually had trouble hearing people so she flipped her hair into people’s faces

I flew United from San Francisco to Auckland. My connecting flight from Auckland to Christchurch was canceled with no explanation. I was finally told the cancellation was due to fog. Even though it was clear when we landed. I am from San Francisco, I know what fog is! And I didn't see any fog. I was told the next available flight was 7 hours later. Unacceptable, they should have had a flight ready to go as soon as it was deemed safe to take off.

Excellent as always, I won't fly to Australia, and back to the US on any other airline. The flight crew is always top notch, and have a way to make one feel extra special. Thank you for your service, I would rate Qantas Airways a 10+.

Basic airline, aircraft and service. AA gets you from point A to B. My flight was delayed by 2 hours too.

No internet on flight, which makes log travels really hard.

Not great. The inflight entertainment was all on an app, and I did not want to watch a film on my phone. Also, the range of options of films was limited.

by the time they got to our row, they were out of some of the food options. games and movies were great but maybe more game options like tetris or pac man would be great

A few more inches of legroom is all i ask

Great as usual, some delays but well communicated and made up for in the air

Business class points redemption - good value for points paid, dubious value if out of your own pocket, domestic class business product okay for this length of flight. The flight left and arrived on time, crew were good, aircraft was a bit old and tired, but still miles ahead of their competitors in Virgin and Jetstar.

Airline running better than post Covid, proper boarding process now implemented, some aircraft feeling a bit old and tired, crew fine, online experience better.

We were upgraded and after just a short delay in attending to a safety check we were on our way. Would definately fly Qantas International on their Dreamliner again.

Where the plane landed and the next grate to get to is a LONG LONG LONG walk again if one is not fit and healthy with no carts to assist. It sucks

The worst landing I have ever had on a domestic flight. Thought we would lose the landing gear on landing in Newark. Then we spent 40 minutes trying to position the plane in the right place to be able to get the jet way to the plane. The plane arrived stopped. The announcer was that we were there. Everybody got up, then we were told to sit back down because they had to have us towed to a different position. We got towed and then everyone stood up and they told us we were in the wrong position to sit back down again, and then we got towed to a different position This did not happen immediately. It was 30 minutes while we wandered around a small section of the tarmac in Newark close to the gate, but apparently not close enough. Horrifying experience The CAB should be investigating that flight

I found the staff to not be very attentive at all. When paying for Business Class you expect a certain type of service and that was not found. They were almost rude even

United could have one single once of customer service. No human United employee would help me with the invalid mileage plus number, they said I had to speak with the computer.

It was fine, definitely older planes with no charging or anything. There’s no entertainment set up on board, but it is nice that they allow you to access the in flight entertainment from your phone without having to pay for the Wi-Fi and they do offer free texting.

The personnel were professional and friendly. The Boeing 737 Max 9 is too claustrophobic and was very warm at both airport gates, and still warm in the air.

The plane pushed back from the gate on time. However, it stopped on the ramp, and we waited for over 20 minutes before the aircraft pulled back to the gate. Apparently, something of importance had to be removed from the aircraft by the gate agent. I found this to be odd. The delay was not significant, but I felt that whatever was on the aircraft that had to be taken off, should’ve been done before we pushed back from the gate.

Mostly the experience was good except for the flight changes made by UA which meant longer layover in DC

Fantastic crew. Flight was delayed at last minute but we were given updates every 20 minutes and the crew was so friendly and considerate. I miss the touch screens on the back of the seats, wish they would bring that back though.

Great. Food going from Australia to the US was better than other way around, but still needs improvement in terms of quality and quantity!!!

Air Canada Rouge is great. Toronto Airport is the usual nightmare

I hope they were able to assign my preferred seat on my connecting flight. Wasn’t sure if it was language issue or they just can’t.

I did the posting for 45 years. I just retired. I’m the only seat in the plane but didn’t have any phone. It has to be mine so imagine seeing 13 hours on the flat seat with a belt that didn’t close all the rest was OK.

I paid for comfort plus seats but did not get the extra leg room. When I told the stewardess, she just ignored me.

The flight attendants were not very nice. No smiles On my return trip I was charged for one bag $83.30 although I had purchased the flight including one piece of luggage. Can this be refunded to me? Thank you!

Seating wasn’t too cramped; I don’t understand how luggage bins get full if there are enough for each person. Shouldn’t there be room for the designated carry-on and personal item for each passenger at their seat? THEN, IF for some reason extra room is available for someone who prefers it, then shifts can occur. I’m simply saying it seems that I should have primary access to the storage bin at my seat and underneath in front of me. It was suggested that I go to the back of the plane to store my carry-on when I paid to have access to the first seat after 1st class. The additional stress and inconvenience could be avoided and I think all passengers and flight crew are interested in guidelines that are fair, clear, and reduce tension.

Horrible. Multiple delays for every reason imaginable. Missed connection which led to missing work. How does a plane make a detour to refuel. Do the fueling then have to refuel a second time at the exact same spot? Mind blowing.

Easy boarding and comfortable seating were plusses. Enjoyed the experience and good service from the captain and crew. Many thanks...!

Somebody either kayak or Air Canada booked my flight under my preferred name Betty instead of my legal name and I almost was denied boarding my flight

I rarely fly but the boarding was very good, seats are ok, it's economy right ? The food was alright, nothing to write home about, the flight attendants were awesome. The flight was uneventful, a little turbulence, take off and landing were good. For someone who doesn't fly that much I'd say it was pretty good overall.
