Bring some extra food! Long flight, you don’t get enough and quality is mediocre. No free snacks in between meals except for mini pretzels.
Verified travelerFlew with Qantas AirwaysSYD-DFWFeb 2025
Be at the airport at least 3-4 hours before departure. Lines are long and boarding process is a mess.
AurianneFlew with United AirlinesSYD-SFOSept 2024
Ensure you have 2-3 hours layover You’ll likely need unless you don’t mind missing your next flight
AndrewFlew with Air CanadaSYD-YVRNov 2024
I wish I had known that I would have to go thru customs in Vancouver even though I was scheduled from Australia thru Canada (Vancouver thru Montreal) and on to USA. We did not leave the airport in Canada because there was not enough time between flights. Our checked baggage did not have to go thru customs in Canada...only us. If I had known of this great inconvenience I would have booked a flight direct to USA.

Be prepared for a long flight & take what you absolutely must have in your carry on.
Verified travelerFlew with Hawaiian AirlinesSYD-HNLJan 2024
Sydney airport is real convenient - with access for family members up until the SYD signage pre-security. If you need to go through visitor immigration at HNL, and catch another flight onwards, then please allow for ~3hours layover. The bags need to be picked up post-immigration, dropped off at transit baggage and then there’s a long walk to terminal 1 to reach gates for B, C and beyond (A gates are first). Having just 2 hours layover cuts it close.
DonnaFlew with Qantas AirwaysSYD-SFODec 2023
We got off a cruise so were at the airport over 7hrs before our flight. We paid for the day pass at the Premium Club. Totally worth it! It was quiet and offered food, drinks, showers and when they closed, we were able to go to the downstairs lounge which opened at 6:30. This lounge was much larger and had a bigger selection of food and beverages. Would definitely go there again.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaSYD-YVRJan 2024
Be prepared for the long haul flight. Try to book your tickets early and choose no more than 1 stop flight. I had 2 stop flight and it drained me out.

.very good and as I needed wheelchair assistance all staff excellent.. only suggestion is get rid of those plastic chairs hard to ride in and staff have trouble compared to others. Everything else very good experience. Will use Fiji Air again.

In-flight entertainment options could use a refresh, Consider a tie-up with Spotify for more current music and with IMDB or other service for newer selections/movie ratings.

See previous comments. Didn’t take this flight because my other flight was so delayed. Ending up on two other flights as a result and was more than a day late.

6 hour delay and they didnt try to make up any time during an over 10 hour flight

Very good; seat made ready for bed after meal, a plus since one airline covered the seat at the start.

Entertainment was not good. Seems like liquor should’ve been advertised only beer and wine was even though I saw others getting liquor didn’t realize I could. And the food to me could’ve been a little bit.

Food choices perhaps not the best. Only offered beer and wine, when it appeared other liquor was available. Entertainment wasn’t so good.

They charged me over a $1000 dollars to bring two surfboard bags as check baggage. Inappropriate and I would avoid flying sgain

The experience on Fiji Airways was absolutely amazing. Streamlined. All staff was amazing. Pleasant. Friendly. Extremely helpful.

One of the oldest most uncomfortable "lay down" seats I've ever experienced. Old plane and old seats that don't lay flat. The seat back does not even recline - at all. Instead the legrest awkwardly extends to fill the gap between a small cubby into which you must insert your feet/legs. I am 5' 11" and could not lay straight but had to tuck my knees. Ticket was also very expensive. Would not recommend flying business/first on Finair from Melbourne to Bangkok and will not do so again myself.

The wifi was out. Otherwise it was great flight. Richard, as CSM, was excellent.

Traditional economy class. Not a full flight so spare seats. Food and drinks were good

Was bumped to a later flight because of inefficiency on part of the airline.

Inflight entertainment, poor that there are no headrest screens on aircraft used for an international flight.

The Emerits/Qantas flight was cancelled to Wellington. We need a refund. Had to buy another airline ticket. How do we get the refund. Still not in Wellington.

Delayed QF59 flight once again, Qantas doesn't fail in maintaining there delayed departures and arrivals. USB points do not work nor do the power point sockets on the plane, Qantas staff admitted that on the flight. Don't expect to your charge devices. Saving grace, was the ice cream. Bottom line, if you expect to fly to HND and make it on time avoid Qantas and if you're interested in ice cream - visit 7/11.

Pretty excellent. I don’t know what the pilot could have done better with the bumping ( there was a storm) nor what happened to my ears coming down into bendigo. It doesn’t happen coming down into Sydney just the return flight. I wonder why?

Touch screens were very difficult to use, generally being laggy and unresponsive- it was quite an art to get it to play the thing you wanted rather than some thing at random. Selection of films and Tv was good when touchscreen decided to finally respond.

Their aircraft are old and amenities lack way behind other international carriers leaving from BNE. Even in economy

Impressed with the service despite turbulence because of the weather. Both flights arrived before their scheduled times.

Very comfortable (upgraded to business class). The audio on my screen didn’t work, but I managed to play the audio through my phone while watching the screen.

Airbus plane, nice and polite staff, entertainment even as it was a short flight.

Breakfast was not loaded at SFO due to catering company change. Seems like a major airline at a major hub would have thought of something else or warned passengers to pick up food before boarding a 3 hour flight.

The personnel were professional and friendly. The Boeing 737 Max 9 is too claustrophobic and was very warm at both airport gates, and still warm in the air.

leg space better than expected. two washrooms for one plane isn't enough.

We boarded but then sat there waiting on some missed connection people to get on so we sat for about 15 minutes for that. Then we sat again because the passenger manifest was wrong and they had to figure it out before we could leave. That took about another 20 minutes or so. The crew was working hard to figure it out so it’s not their fault. It ended up being a system glitch where someone was upgraded to first class while another person was also in the same seat and it just created a mess that took a little while to figure out. They literally went to every person on the plane asking their names to see who was sitting in the wrong seat. I also hate the entertainment that must be watched on your phone or tablet. Just give us setback screens. It’s so much better. Almost every Delta flight has this now and it is so nice to have them. The crew did a great job. I have no complaints from them. They were very hard working, even with the mishap and a disgruntled passenger.

My priority checked bag was not loaded on the flight. I had to sit in baggage claim in Las Vegas for 2 1/2 hours waiting for the next flight. All baggage staff were very helpful, tracking showed it as scanned for loading. Nobody told me why it wasn't on my flight.

Great. Food going from Australia to the US was better than other way around, but still needs improvement in terms of quality and quantity!!!

Received an email the night before showing that there would be seatback entertainment on our flight. We get on and there was no seatback entertainment. And then it was a scramble to try to set up the iPads for the kids before takeoff so they could watch something for the four hour flight.

Terrible confusion btw air Canada and United. Wasn’t able to change ticket because I had purchased on kayak. Rethinking booking tickets on this site, and will try to avoid United and aircanada going forward.

The AC check-in counter closed early and caused us to miss our flight. Our connecting flight arrived late, at 1300, so we picked up our bags and ran to the AC check-in counter, only to find it closed already, although our flight to Montreal was at 1435. We had already checked in online, so the AC staff knew we were coming.

It was okay until this flight had mechanical problems which made us miss our connecting flight and my friend and I had to pay an extra $500 each to get to our next location at a later time.

I like the friendliness of the crew members. I think the snack could’ve been better instead of a small package of pretzel. I like that they offer me something to drink.

Previous flight from Melbourne to Brisbane was late. I had 1 hr 40 min to get to the connecting flight. That was not enough time as I had to take a shuttle bus to change terminal. Then needed to get through security and customs. The airline was announcing my name to board at 9:10. The take off time was scheduled for 9:40 but I was again one of the last to board at about 9:20. Kayak needs to allow more time for these connections

Almost missed boarding, mass line up made me be the last person. Wish the announcement was more loud, didn’t hear what seats or zones were ready. Being last also made finding space for my roller bag. Fortunately the flight attendants made it work!

Very crowded; wanted us to check in 1 & only carry on full of meds & supplies; crew very reluctant to approve! I’ve lost checked in luggage in past.. It was non negotiable in my mind!

Good service was quite limited but that is due to short flight.

every single person involved showed their joy, working in the airline industry - it created a very pleasant atmosphere for everyone

Ok Did not like that the second leg of flight was moved earlier making it a rush to make

15kg allowance is outrageous. Change of time a few days before departure and more than 2 hours of delay in the end. The worse we’ve taken so far in Oceania.

They added the weight of my back to the carryon luggage and charged me NZ$75 for being over 7 kg.

stuck in the aircraft for over three hours due to engineering work, significantly delayed and made a lot of passengers missed the connecting transport, no mention any compensation

Very quiet plane!! One of the quietest planes we have been on.

Jetsatar refused to take my foldable stroller in the plane, despite following all the rules on dimensions and packaging. Similar thing happened on our previous fight. However, at that instance, they offered to check in the stroller. At this fight, the staff was rude, trying to rush us to board the flight. They made excuses that the stroller was not allowed and even offer to leave it behind and ship it back at our own cost. Fortunately, we had someone else attending. Since the flight was about to take off, they left it behind and send it back to us on the next available flight.

Overall, it was good. The only concern was that I couldn't charge my phone because the USB port didn't work after we took off. One of the crew members tried to restart it but never came back to me with an update.

Comfortable seats, boarding was easy and staff were very nice.

Flight was fine but a domestic flight was called by Jetstar international. This meant going through immigration and custom scanning twice. Long queues were experienced which were frustrating. We were using a wheelchair and exit at Perth needed a scissor lift as no air bridge provided. No fast lane at Perth for wheelchair. The staff were helpful but this system is poor.

The crew were great. The seat was older than an old Holden with a big metal bar sticking right into my back. The passenger next to me complained that hers was the same. The pre purchase system for food was disappointing as the pie/quiche took 20 mins to warm up, arrived too hot and with no utensils. It was one of the most uncomfortable flights I've ever been on.

Not very good, no food and not drink ( caffe or tea). Never ever fly with jet star.
