Once again, this purchase was through Chatdeal under the umbrella of Kayak. My tickets were purchased through Air New Zealand however this flight was partnered with United. So I was unable to get a boarding pass until I arrived in LA. I had to do some wandering around the LA terminals, which are not small, and had to speak with customer service to get my boarding pass, which still didn't even have a seat assignment or gate. Once the gate was decided, then changed, I sat around waiting for the gate customer service people to start working. They were there, but they were just chatting with each other for at least 30 minutes before opening the window. I finally got my seat assignment. So my score was mainly based upon ease (or lack thereof) of getting my ticket and just being allowed to get on my plane to my final destination. It seemed like a lot of unnecessary stress.

Got to the airport and Air New Zealand was going to charge 134 AUD for each checked bag. Fortunately, they recommended going to the Virgin Australia counter to see if they could add a checked bag to our ticket. The nice people at Virgin used an online code to give us a discount so we only paid 25 AUD a bag. Thanks a lot for the heads up Kayak. We will book direct next time to avoid surprises. Also, almost all movies on Air New Zealand were an extra charge, and the only drinks offered for free on a 3 hour flight were coffee, tea, and water - no soft drinks."

However, when I boarded and sat in the seat I was assigned, I was moved because it turned out that the couple that was sitting next to me had purchased the seat so they could lay down. I was seated at another window seat, but it turned out the couple in that row had paid extra to have that seat empty as well. I was not only re-seated before the plane took off, but then I was re-seated THREE more times until finally being put in a middle seat after the flight was in flight. To top it all off, the plane was so delayed I missed my connecting flight to my final destination."

MY travel plans were canceled and l tried thru KAYAK and Quantas to cancel this flight and was not able to confirm cancelation but still received flight boarding. l tried to get refunded thru Kayak and that has been horrible long unreasolved task now l am trying to go thru Credit card. with this Covid changing world, airlines and travel companies should be refundable especially since this is a Australian airlines. l am about to lose $1000.00.

Cons: "I am a frequent flyer with QANTAS and a regular customer for many years. Why then do I get the worst seats on the aircraft (last row without reclining). These seats are often assigned to me and they are extremely uncomfortable. I booked a paid fare and did not claim points. My FF preferred seats are mid-plane, aisle. The screen had very poor contrast and it was like watching through cloth. To make it worse the entertainment system had very poor sound with long periods of frozen frames and staccato sound making it difficult to follow the plot. My wife's system (also FF) was the same. Not happy with the "special welcome" given to FF passengers!"

Ran to get through customs, then airline rep said we might not make flight connection but to run...so we ran through two terminals, dropped baggage, ran through security to our gate...made it while flight still open...but...gate agent said Virgin had re-booked us already on flight 5 hours later and we no longer had seats on that flight. So two very serious questions that I have not yet gotten a satisfactory answer... 1) why were they allowed to re-book me without my consent? Every other situation, including changes to this itinerary in the past, I was told no changes could be made without my approval? 2) if they had already give away our confirmed seats, why in heavens did they tell us to run? At the airport I got a variety of answers that seemed to be pointing fingers since Sydney flight was Virgin Australia and LAX was Delta....despite codeshare seems these two companies do not work so seamlesslessly and one has no real idea what the other is doing....to the travelers detriment."

I'm used to airlines charging for checked luggage, that's no problem, but to only allow 7 kg of weight on checked bags is basically forcing everyone to just check their luggage. I figured my bag, which could easily fit in their tight bins, would be fine for carry on. I was wrong. Then, because i didn't realize their ludicrous system, I had to pay more than double because 'the flight has already opened for checking in'. This airline is laughable. They might start out the 'least expensive' option but by the time you're done with them nickel and diming you it's better to just book the more expensive flight with a legitimate airline. Oh, and did I mention that I paid for seats up front (again, another tactic for milking you dry) and I was so crammed that I couldn't move my legs? This airline is pathetic. I learned my lesson and will never fly Jetstar"

Apparently no consideration for cultural respect and saving face. I felt very badly for the lady affected. Hand luggage checks should apply to all or nobody - random checks are nothing but a price gouge. If you're going to do it, at least give a voucher of some sort or some kind of incentive to choose jeststar again. Extremely poorly thought out procedure."

Cons: "Children 12 and 10 booked online to fly to Melbourne for Easter. I rang the call centre to ensure they could travel together unaccompanied, as website was not clear. I was advised they could, and because I was concerned I asked this be noted on our booking so we wouldn't have any issues at the gate. I was reassured the children could travel and they made a note as requested. Turn up for our flight today and at the gate after saying goodbye to my children, they're stopped from entering the plane and I'm told they can't travel, despite the advice I received from the call centre and the note on our booking showing we were given this advice. We did everything right to make sure we could travel, just to be refused at the gate. Disgusting."

The burden was on me to reschedule (to a very inconvenient ultra early departure), and I had to twist the customer service fellow's arm to give me a beverage voucher in compensation. Then, when boarding I was mugged for my back pack. 50$ because it was over their utterly disingenuous 7kg "safety limit". It's not a safety rule - the CAA sets that. It's a revenue rule."

I have used this app so many times flying to America and back to Tasmania and this is how I was treated after 4 phone calls begging for help as it was the first trip my son and I were going alone as I hadn't seen him for two years. Qantas paid for my airfares to come home after surgery and I'll stay with them from now on"

Jetstar flights almost always delayed, and this is even more intolerable when it is a 1 am departure time. And having to pay for all food, even water - I know this is a budget airline, but when airport security is so overzealous that it is nigh impossible to carry on your own water, airlines need to take some responsibility and provide hydration. Finally, not providing blankets and pillows while cranking up the aircon to arctic just adds to the unpleasantness. I get the budget angle, but this is just mean. I will not be flying Jetstar in the future."

I will spend whatever it takes to never use this airline again."

Cons: "This is the cheapest company I ever used. During the booking process they did not mention that they have a 7 kg limit on carry on items. This is not the case when you attempt to book a flight within Australia; clearly deceiving foreign travelers. In any case, I paid extra $24 to check in a (20 kg) bag. When arrived to the airport I voluntarily weighted the hand bag which was 8.2 kg. I explained that I am an international traveler with no mean of exactly weighing the bag. They insisted on checking in the extra bag and charged me additional $50 to do so. With those hidden fees, I ended up paying more for the flight than the competitors. During the flight, they offer nothing for free (not even water or coffee)."

Welcome drinks were a nice touch but from there the service was not very attentive, we had to ask for empty glasses and plates to be cleared after they sat with us for over an hour. The meal was not great - pretty lack luster. No priority bag tags and our bags took over an hour to come out the other end."

There were only two and they were not overweight, and still they cost us more than our two seats cost us. Then when we got on board they made us move out of the extra-knee-room seats we had paid for and into regular seats. It was not pleasant."

They charge per kilo for bags being overweight. They weigh your carry on plus your personal items which can only add up to 7 kg and will charge you if you are over even if by just 1kg. Do not ever fly with jetstar."
Cons: "Jetstar and similar Australian airlines are corrupt. You have to purchase additional luggage allowance 3 hours before flight time, and then it goes to $15AUD per pound. This was not clear to me. I was shocked when I was asked to pay $500 for my check-in luggage flying from Brisbane to Sydney, which was 6 times the price of my plane ticket. Corrupt!"

Cons: "I actually missed my flight from Honolulu due to confusion over crossing the international dateline - I had several days in Oahu to break up the brutal flight from US mainland-OZ. I take my share of the blame for the screw-up - but still - normally I would get an email especially on an international flight a few days ahead confirming flight, doing web checkin etc. - got nothing from Jetstar, had to pay for the RT almost all over again. Then, shook up about that situation, I didn't pay the checkin luggage at booking. The customer service person was helping me rebook over the phone mentioned NOTHING about it costing $410 AUD to check one shortboard and a rollerbag at the airport. Again, no web checking, nothing to prompt for advance baggage checkin. The mortified counter agent did suggest repacking to maximize carry-on which brought it to $335 AUD - but still - bad overall experience which a little software support - which should cost Jetstar next to nothing once installed - would have rectified almost completely. Although - who can figure out those checked baggage costs anyway? You definitely need a computer program to do it...."
