The car was in horrific condition cleanliness as well as under the hood i presume and being a single woman driving through ice snow ect i felt beyond unsafe i returned the car early and didnt even fret about the 10$/gal gas total. I drove quite slow the entire time worst rental ever and i will not use the company again.

The pick up and drop off details were incorrect on our confirmation, so the Hertz desk at the airport wouldn’t let us collect a car from them. They sent us to a different location and we ended up spending over $50 on Ubers trying to find it. When we got there the people on the desk were very rude and blamed us, even after I showed them the documentation we had been sent which had the incorrect information on it.

At Midway we were sent to get our car to find it was not there. We were given another car but it did take more time then we had hoped. The car we got drove fine but was not very clean (sticky on parts of the door) and had a very heavy cleaner smell which made me wonder if someone had smoked in the car or thrown up. The car also made it whistling sound even though all the windows up. Bottom line- the car was safe to drive and got us to where we needed to go but was that pleasant. When we went to return the car that was also in ordeal as a drop off key box was not an option and we have been told it had been. We were eventually able to text the branch manager and came up an alternative plan this again took much more time than planned.

My main issue was that when I was doing my search for a car I said I was picking it up and midnight and it let me pick this one, but the location was closed from 10pm to 7am, so I had to take an Uber to my hotel and come back in the morning for the car. I could have double checked the hours, but I assumed that since I entered the time it would have given me a heads up.

Upcharged to a wild degree for tolls and didn’t make it clear at all. As someone from out of town who is not used to Chicago toll roads, they made it almost impossible to avoid being charged way too much. Added on close to $100 to our bill for maybe $5 worth of tolls. Insane. The car also smelled a little like smoke and had a number of scratches and scuffs. The rental checkout and return area was a small, seedy kiosk inside the parking garage instead of at the desk with the other more well-known brands. I would not rent from this company again—despite the lower price, they’ll find a way to charge you extra anyway. At least they didn’t try to scam us out of any money for the scuffs and scratches that were already there, so that’s something.

Pros:

The staff in the lot at pickup was friendly and helpful in figuring out the confusion from the mistake a the counter. The staff at drop off was friendly and helpful. Both of these staff were Hertz employees as they were handling the car pickup and dropoff.

Cons:

The counter staff assigned the same car to me as to someone else. There was confusion as to who was supposed to be in the car. The counter staff added insurance that I did not want to the charges. They did not ask me; I never take the insurance. When I questioned the higher amount, she said it was due to a deposit that would be returned to me. When I called customer service to address the situation, "William" told me that there was nothing he could do to help and I would need to follow some 10 step process on a web site to submit a complaint. We normally rent from Hertz. I will never us Dollar again.

Hard to find the car. Was parked in a lot marked with another agency. No instruction at all on the basics of the car. Never told how to operate the plate pass. Directions for drop off were incorrect. Never could get through through when I called for a question.

Never AGAIN!

Cons:

NEVER AGAIN! This was booked less than a week before for car to be picked up on the Wed eve of Thanksgiving. They failed to disclose that they were not located with the other rental car companies at the airport, and that you have to take a 2nd shuttle that you call for to get to their lot. I started calling at 4:30pm and after 30 minutes of calling with no answer (once someone answered and hung up the phone), I took a cab to their lot only to find they were closed!!!! Took cab back to the airport and rented from Alamo, and the charge ended up being $110 less then Payless for the 3 day rental.

Surprised by non-airport location. Long wait for pickup vehicle. Off-airport location with 5:00 pm closing time weekdays. Car needed exterior wash.

Pros:

The price was affordable...staff was pleasant. Car was clean.

Cons:

They don't tell you that you have to take a second shuttle from the first shuttle at Midway. The pick up office is so tiny, my luggage had to be brought in each piece at a time, since it wouldn't fit through the doorway. Only 2 people could wait in the office, it was so small. The parking lot does not have a drive to drop off car, so you just park it anywhere. No one tells you to write down your own mileage and bring it to the desk.

Pros:

Clean well maintained and comfortable. Drove to NYC and back to Chicago for a wedding and was very happy.

Cons:

Drop off was a bit long but not due yo employees but very rude customer. Handled well by person checking us in.

Cons:

The pickup took way to long. I saw another company process 4 customers while I was getting my car. The drop off was easy, however my return didn't get processed so I started getting charged for additional days after I turned my car in.

I am furious.... I rented a car and never received a confirmation email nor was there a reservation when I got to the airport. AND they didn't have any available cars. I had to rent a car from Alamo for $200+ and it took so long that I still missed my business meeting. I will literally never use kayak again.

I lost money on this deal. The rental car company did not acknowledge the 65 dollars that I paid online with kayak and no one is retuning that amount to men they charged me separately for the whole thing. Feel cheated

Pros:

No, the staff was not super helpful. We waited at least 40 minutes for a car after reserving one. They had a car available that was a step up for an upgrade and in my opinion, they should have offered it to us for the same price since they didn't have a car for us. Dropping our car off was very quick.

Cons:

Complimentary upgrade since they had no car for us.

Cons:

"Reserved" online. It was not made clear that the company was offsite or that a credit card number was necessary to hold the car. Our flight arrived nearly 2 hours late. We took the shuttle to the rental counter only to realize Economy was in a different location. Called both the local number and the toll-free number and got no answer. By the time my phone calls caught up with me it was 12:30 am and the message was that they would hold the car until 10:00. So now we were stuck at Midway. Luckily we were able to rent anothe car but had to cram 6 adults with luggage into 1 car instead of 2 and had to pay a premium price. I would not use Economy again.

The employees of the company are friendly and helpful. The car was new and comfortable.

Cons:

The company has a hidden "mandatory" roadside assistance fee of $100. It is NOT printed on any of the paperwork, nor or is there a notification when making the reservation on Kayak. It doubled the price of my rental, but there was 0 communication upfont. I reserve thru Kayak all the time and expect they would be disappointed in the hidden costs as well.

Worst company ever. Told me they gave out all of their cars the night before thanksgiving and they didn't have any car to give me for my reservation. Had to rent from Avis for $260.00 for 1 day when my reservation with Economy was for $70.00
